I joined the 370 Lakeside dog park as it’s much more controlled and better taken care of.
The field itself is pretty bare bones. There are no agility obstacles or changes in terrain, it's pretty much just flat. But, it is pretty well covered in grass, so your dog isn't just running through dirt. There are also dog poop bag stations and a trashcan on the outside of the park to dispose of said bags. The only thing that's missing is a water station, so make sure to bring your own water.
This is a really nice dog park that accommodates separate fenced in areas for both small and large dogs. We've never been in the small dog area, but the large dog area is very spacious and can easily hold several dozen dogs with PLENTY of room to run and play without feeling crowded. When the weather is nice, it's very popular and there will be plenty of other dogs for yours to play with. There is a small pavilion with a bench that can seat about 8, but that is the only break from the sun. There are no large trees or other spots to get shade. There are several small benches scattered around the field, though.
Enjoyed the dog park when I first started going last year. Now I find that almost nightly there are dog fights in the dog park. People are bringing aggressive and/or non-socialized dogs in and not doing anything about their combated behavior. The entry area is also an area of confrontation of dogs as owners do not hold their dogs back as others are bringing theirs in.
We have a 7 month old puppy named Potter and he loves it here. There are so many dogs and they are all great and the owners are great. My only with is more grass and toys for the pets. But it’s a good park.
My family and I have been bringing my 8 month old Border Collie to this park for around 6 months now. At first, I thought this park was great because of it's convenient location and it was a good way for the dogs to socialize, play, and run. Lately, I have noticed that people seem to not be following the rules of the park that are clearly displayed on the entrance gate. Also, people continue to enter the park even when their dogs are displaying aggressive behavior towards other dogs at the entrance. Last week, my dog was attacked by a dog that displayed aggression before entering the park. This dog formed a small pack with other dogs and began attacking mine. The owners of the other dogs did not put forth any effort to stop their dogs from attacking mine. This was the third time my dog has been attacked at this park. The thing is, if you cannot control your dog's behavior and you know they are aggressive towards other dogs, DO NOT BRING THEM. These events have caused my dog to be fearful of other dogs and to not want to socialize. Unfortunately, I will have to stop coming to this park and start going to other parks, such as Broemmelsiek Park, where I feel that the dog owners are more responsible and caring for not only their dogs, but for others as well.
The pavilion area is too small and too close to the entry. Not all owners are picking up after their dogs and the area needs to be mowed more often.
My dog and i love this place; however, it seems that bees are swarming near the trees in the gated area. The park is beautiful and well kept, though.
